M-9E Mastering biomedical information retrieval as tool for the 3Rs

Learning objectives

This course provides the participants with tools to efficiently build Pubmed search strings comprising field tags [tiab] and [mh], Boolean operators and nesting with help of search builder for systematic review as first step of pre-clinical meta-analyses, to comply with open access funding agencies policies and copyright, and to connect issues of 3R info retrieval with open access and systematic reviews, risk of bias and ARRIVES guidelines. The session comprises group presentations of short exercises, online demos of search tool use, and lectures on issues of 3Rs and open access, open data, reporting and reproducibility of pre-clinical research.

Criteria for participation

Prerequisite online training on 3Rupdate.ch

1. Info retrieval, and open access | 50’, optional

2. Online test on info retrieval and open access | 30’

3. Homework | 60’

 

Participant sends automatically generated certificate test and homework to course trainer 2 days before course Participants bring their own laptop configured with Wifi access for "Eduroam", a VPN and reference manager (Zotero, Mendelay, Endnote, Papers, etc.) already installed.

Accreditation

This course is recognized as one day continuing education in Switzerland by the Federation of Swiss Cantonal Veterinary Officers (VSKT)

Course Fees

Academia in Switzerland: 200.- CHF

Industry/External participants: 300.- CHF

 

Please note that we will charge you in case of a late cancellation of the course (100 SFR within 3 weeks before start of the course; full fee within 7 days before the course). To charge for cancellations is common practice by other providers, too. The new proceedings for further education courses became necessary due to an increasing extent of short term cancellations of continuous training modules.
