Education already completed abroad

If you have already completed an education abroad, you will have to complete the parts of the education which are missing based on the requirements of the Swiss legislation for the education. Your study director has to create an account for you in the Federal database Animex and has to upload all certificates in the section “education and admission” of your account. Do not forget to mention the species you will use in your experimentation because the education in Switzerland is species-specific.
PLEASE NOTE: In Zürich, it is mandatory to use the following form that you upload with your certificate/s into your account in the Federal database Animex: File: “Form - Approval of education done abroad in particular cases (Link: https://www.zh.ch/de/umwelt-tiere/tiere/versuchstiere-tierversuche.html
The authorities will check your previous certificates and inform you about their decision and, if necessary, which course or part(s) of a course you have to complete in Switzerland. The authorities may require a part of the module 1, of the module 20, of the module 2 or the module EGA after reviewing the education you completed abroad. In this case, please register for the corresponding course and indicate the content required by the Cantonal authorities in the field for remarks. If you do not mention any content in this registration, we consider that you need the full course.

Master students or short-term collaborators

In general, master students or short-term members of a research team must followed the same rules as other in-vivo experimenters: before they are allowed to work with experimental animals, they need to attend Module 1 (rodent work), Module 20 (non-rodent work) or EGA (see explanations above) irrespective of how long they have been part of the group. Exceptions from this rule can be made by the cantonal vet authorities; however, this is always a single case decision by the vet office and must be brought to their attention.
Apart from that, forward-looking scheduling and pre-registration of future team members is recommended.

May I register for another person?

New team members who have not received an institutional email address, can be registered with their private email address (which can be corrected to the institutional email address as soon as the new person has become an official team member). In case the name of the person is not known (open position), please contact us. We will reserve a place for this person. Do not register another person under your name/email/account. Our system could not differentiate your profile from that of the new person. Consequently, all your personal course data would be lost!
Note: Pre-registration of future team members like new employees or master students is accepted but must be done with the name and email of the person who will complete the course.
Please do not use your account to book for someone else. We use the account data to contact the participants (confirmation, questions, ...).

How to cancel a registration?

If you wish to cancel your participation in a course, simply contact the responsible ETH-LTK Cooperation member by e-mail. Your participation will then be cancelled. Please note that late cancellations may result in costs. You will find more detailed information in the course descriptions.
