Congratulations to Ivana Jaric for her COST Action Grant
Dr. Ivana Jaric, leader of the Neuroendocrinology Group at the Institute of Laboratory Animal Science, has been awarded a highly competitive COST Action grant to establish the first pan-European network of researchers dedicated to advancing the integration of Sex as a Biological Variable (SABV) in both in vitro and in vivo biomedical research. The Action aims to enhance the current SABV initiative and increase its translational relevance by fostering collaboration across disciplines, providing methodological strategies, and developing evidence-based best-practice guidelines. These efforts will help researchers not only include both sexes in their studies but also understand why sex differences exist and how they are mediated from the earliest stages of research. This will improve understanding of sex specificity in disease risk, progression, and treatment responses, potentially leading to the development of effective therapeutics personalized for individual patients.
